Pourcelle Eb Cornet |

Henry Pourcelle Eb Cornet This is a neat little Eb cornet which has the more unusual tubing that resembles a shrunken Bb. The style of this would suggest 1880 to 1890 and the serial number is 52563 but I have no references to know an exact date. These were sold by C. Bruno & Son in New York. This came with a matching set of three tuning shanks and the unmarked mouthpiece then I built the case to match it. This cleaned up well although there are some worn areas of plating. Using the Medallion Liquid Silver polish really helps on these cornets as it does fill in some silver over brass and gives it a great finish. This came with two crude brass finger buttons that did not look original so I used three from my parts bin that make this look much better. With a good cleaning and new corks, this old horn plays really well. It still has its original gold plating in the bell. After studying the Pourcelle name for more years, this is likely made by Bohland & Fuchs of Austria. |
